PROJECT: Ellen Morris Prewitt “My Very Southern Voice” website and portal
CLIENT: Ellen Prewitt
OBJECTIVES: Consolidate three distinctly different websites into a single, cohesive web presence
MY ROLES: Visual identity development, WordPress website design and development, information architecture, static HTML to WordPress migration; WordPress.com to self-hosted WordPress install migration
Ellen Morris Prewitt is an award-winning writer with two published books, an anthology of stories written by people navigating their way out of homelessness, and numerous short stories and essays featured in magazines and journals.
She came to me with a single goal: consolidate her online presence into a single, distinct identity that would appeal to publishers and readers alike.
In practical terms, that meant aggregating two existing book sites and a blog with a bevy of loyal and engaged subscribers; making sense of how and where to link to several sites dedicated to promoting writers; and adding new content announcing her most recent projects.
And since one of her books is an audio book read entirely in Ellen’s very southern voice, audio was to be a strong component of the new site.
Over the course of several months we worked together to realize her vision of a website that reflected her unique personality and interpretation of the human condition. The finished product included pages for each book, links to her social media and online publishing communities, a blog, a curated collection of written stories, and embedded links to each of her audiobook readings.
I loved it. Ellen was a joy to work with. Her range of requirements gave me a chance to exercise a full gamut of design and functionality expertise, and the content was heartwarming and inspirational.
More importantly, she loved it!

What a success this was for me. In addition to the website—which I’m so proud of—you also streamlined my Twitter, Facebook, business cards, etc so that I have a unified image. It is all just so nice. And, of course, one of the best things was that the process was as enjoyable as the final product. Thank you so much!!!
